Latino Americans from PBS (3-12)
What are the stories of U.S. Latinos and how do they inform the broader American narrative? From southern Florida to the San Juan Islands of Washington state, from the pre-history of the nation through today’s most contentious issues, Latino experiences illuminate our country’s history and its struggle to live up to its ideals. This collection of lesson plans, videos, and classroom resources invites teachers and students to explore the history, people, and issues chronicled in the PBS series, Latino Americans. Along the way, it engages students in dramatic real-life stories and offers primary texts that serve state standards’ goals.
Alma’s Way (K-2)
Alma’s Way follows 6-year-old Alma Rivera, a proud, confident Puerto Rican girl who lives in the Bronx with her family among a diverse group of close-knit friends and community members. In every episode, Alma’s Way aims to model self-awareness, responsible decision-making, and empathy—encouraging kids to generate and value their own ideas and questions. Games, videos, and activity bundles are included in this new collection!
Rosie’s Rules (K-2)
Rosie’s Rules is a new PBS KIDS® animated comedy series for preschoolers starring 5-year-old Rosie Fuentes, a Mexican-American girl just beginning to learn about the wow-mazing world. Rosie’s Rules aims to teach children concrete social studies lessons about how a community works, helping them develop an awareness of themselves as individuals and as part of a broader society.
Rosie is bilingual in English and Spanish and loves celebrating her multicultural identity. Throughout the series, she joyfully introduces viewers to the art, traditions, and foods of the Southwest, Midwest, and Mexico.
